He came to banish evil. Hence, he cured Simon’s mother-in-law of the fever she had. Later in the day, many came with all kinds of diseases and ailments that he cured. He banished demons from peoples’ bodies. He also prayed and He gave this example to the people and to all of us reading this Gospel and throughout His life.
Our Holy Mother the Church gives us the first feast day of the the new year. It is like she wants us to go through 2022 accompanied by her, God’s Mother and our Mother. Let us appreciate more deeply her figure, role and importance on this first day of 2022.
We usually gift our loved ones with presents on Christmas day. We often forget or take for granted the Gift–with the capital G- that mankind received from God. We should consider this and ensure that we received this well and that we use it according to the Will of the Giver.
Jesus begins his preaching by inviting people to repent of their sins. This is the necessary preparation to receive the Good News and any grace that God would like to send us. We need to be prepared for it. Otherwise, we will not receive it.
Let us reflect on some aspects of the Lord’s Baptism and apply them to our daily lives.
